What is eMO?
Solution
The Electronic Money Order (eMO) service would facilitate transmission of money remittance using electronic media. The service shall be started in a phased manner from connected Head Post offices and Sub Post offices. The connected Head Post offices and Sub Post Offices will book eMOs for other connected HOs and SOs (including SOs and BOs in account with it) and other connected SOs (including BOs in account with it).
The product will have following features;
• a new product which will substitute ordinary money order and telegraphic money order service in due course.
• to be booked by the post offices where connectivity by NIC or broadband connectivity is available and has been established.
• to be paid at all offices including Branch Post Office. In the initial phase, the eMOs would be transmitted to Connected Head Post Offices and Sub Post offices. Once the spread of connectivity is increased, all HPOs important Sub Post Offices would be brought under the coverage.
• a separate Head of Account for the service would be provided.
• eMO will have a different tariff structure from exiting money order service.
• Maximum limit of remittance would be Rs. 20,000/-
• The product will have feature like remittance / payment;
 remittance from one to one;
 remittance from one to many;
 payment to one from many;
• Intimation of payment through email, SMS, mobile phone message.
• Supply of certificate of payment by office of booking.
• Supply of signed acknowledgement on payment of additional fee.
• Message only in standard codes.
• Payment of bulk eMOs through a consolidated list and dispensing away with the system of signing of individual acknowledgement by the payee for bulk eMOs.
• Extending MIS facilities to sender and payee in the case of bulk booking / payment.
• Providing for bulk booking of eMOs on the basis of lists provided by the Bulk Remitter and also building in feature of uploading the data available in soft copy.
• After payment, the post office of payment to uploaded date of payment or other details, as the case may be, in the central database System. Payment details for non-connected post offices to be updated by its Head Post Office.
• Provision for MIS for the purpose of auditing / pairing.
